Globally, millions of people lack basic health services due to poverty, discrimination, conflicts, and disasters. HANP was established to bridge this gap in refugee camps, remote villages, and crisis situations. We offer physical and mental health services to underserved and disaster-affected communities through clinics, mobile units, emergency response, and psychosocial support. We deliver comprehensive maternal and child healthcare, prevent blindness through cataract surgery and ensure emergency transportation through a fleet of ambulances, including vehicles modified for children with disabilities.
The loss or deterioration of one’s eyesight can feel frightening, leaving them to wonder about their ability to maintain independence, pay for medical care, retain employment, and provide for their families. In 2023, HHRD conducted free eye examinations/screening and provided primary eye care to 40,450 patients, in addition to 9,216 Cataract surgeries in 20 countries and 6 refugee populations: Kenya (Ethiopian, Congolese and South Sudanese refugees), Somalia/Somaliland (Yemeni refugees), Jordan (Syrian and Palestinian refugees), Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa, Mali, Gambia, DRC (Congo), Ethiopia, Madagascar, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

HHRD strives to serve rural, urban slums and disaster hit communities that are deficient in health facilities and difficult to reach and deploys several mobile health solutions including mobile medical/dental units, outreach community clinics and ambulances. In 2023, we served Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal and Kenya.
In Pakistan, the Mother and Child Healthcare Center has operated in Mianwali since 2011, and a project in Karachi aids Burmese migrants. A Neonatal ICU in a desert area provides emergency services. In Nepal, a specific project offers Uterine Prolapse surgery for women who have suffered in silence for too long. These initiatives ensure essential healthcare for vulnerable populations
Health and happiness go hand in hand – it is difficult to have one without the other. At HHRD we believe part of our relief efforts must include a focus on health and rehabilitation.
